What is IT asset management?

IT asset management (ITAM) is an alternative term for IT asset management. ITAM includes the management and documentation of all software and hardware assets of a company as well as their relationship to each other and interdependence. In addition, it provides information on decisions regarding a purchase or an investment, contributions to the definition and continuous improvement of IT strategies and to improve the use of assets.
