License Management

Advantage through overall concept

Manage your software according to your own set indicators and specifications. Asset.Desk provides you with the basis for mapping your individual license landscape and all current license models.

  • User and client licensing
  • Single, volume and corporate licenses
  • CAL models
  • server licensing

Asset.Desk License Management allows you to accurately assign purchased licenses to individual devices, users or even processors. Licenses for virtualized environments, Office IT and data centers are well managed with Asset.Desk. The focus is on the highest possible degree of automation and avant-garde functions to make the work of the license manager in your company easier.

License Balance – Operational Management

In order to make your entry into license management as easy as possible, our first steps are based on the following.

Catalog the software types and versions used in your company according to your needs. Optimize the maintained license metrics and check the assignment to the purchased licenses. Combine the software products cataloged with Asset.Desk to obtain a complete overview of the software subject to licensing.

You decide for yourself in which depth of detail you collect license information and process it according to the installed systems.

The result is the license balance sheet in Asset.Desk, which gives you an overview of the assigned licenses and shows where, for example, a license has not yet been assigned and whether there are still enough free licenses available.

This gives you an overview of the opportunities and risks arising from license management in your company at any time.

Asset. Desk – SAM License Overview:

License Assignment – Automation

The entire portfolio of installed software products is automatically analyzed and scanned via the Asset.Desk Manager. In addition, you can manually add or update software applications that have not been scanned automatically. Assignment deadlines, upgrade and downgrade rights, the standard metrics of the software or user-defined metrics can all be taken into account. It is also possible to consider test licenses, backup licenses, bundle licenses or licenses with secondary usage rights. In this way, you determine which license models you would like to represent and receive your individual and personalized license management!

Asset.Desk – License Metrics:

In addition, Asset.Desk enables you to optimize the management of concurrent licenses, bundle licenses, OEM, system builders, data centers and many other license models and -types according to your specific requirements.

By defining filters once only in the software catalog, you ensure that the comparison between installed and purchased software is carried out automatically (folders). The required licenses are partly metric, but can also be determined optionally via ActiveDirectory-groups. You decide whether the demand is to be determined on the basis of the active employees or devices in a group.

Asset.Desk – Software-Mapping:

Another highlight in Asset.Desk is the online query of Office 365 licenses, services and user accounts directly at Microsoft to compare current inventory and usage with the data in Asset.Desk. Using the Office 365 Plan user accounts, the catalog and licenses can be automatically assigned to the corresponding employees in Asset.Desk.

With Asset.Desk and the license management module, you always get an up-to-date overview of your license inventory and its use. You can respond immediately to any over- and under-licensing in order to immediately achieve the necessary compliance with your software suppliers!

Procurement, governance, and SAM

By linking software licenses, cost centers, computers, and contracts, you set the foundation for license pricing and active governance of software assets. By using contract management for the license area, the validity of licenses is automatically checked against the contract data. In addition, license management enables you to identify sub-licensing and the associated risks at an early stage.

You can keep track of your licenses with Asset.Desk even over a longer period of time. The change history shows you at any time which license has been added, deleted or changed on which device and by which user. This guarantees operational lifecycle management!

Asset. Desk – License List:

Excellent license management

The independent auditing firm KPMG audited Asset.Desk and certified our solution according to the “SAM Tool Assessment”. This confirms that Asset.Desk meets the requirements for comprehensive software license compliance and the requirements of the Software Alliance:

“Processes, methods, and technologies of Asset.Desk – Version 8. x comply with and adapt the requirements set by the license terms and conditions of Microsoft, Adobe and Autodesk and relevant license metrics of other major software publishers.”

The catalog is constantly growing with new software products and software suites.
Asset.Desk can also use the module “Cost Allocation” to automatically allocate license costs on the basis of specified license fees.
