A current study verifies:
"No company is protected" - Data theft causes billions of losses
"No company is protected" - Data theft causes billions of losses
“Even within the core area of data theft – the IT department, the tangible security needs are rather small.
Most of the companies use the basic equipment, just like firewalls, password policies for all devices and high security standards in general. But active prevention still has to be improved everywhere.
Only 32 percent of all German companies prohibit burners and USB ports that can create mobile storage media."

Effective interface protection by Security.Desk
Security.Desk protects your computers in your network against illegal use of hardware interfaces and devices. You prevent users from stealing data and copying dangerous files from removable storage devices.Overview of controlled interfaces
- Removable storage devices
(USB, memory cards, flash memory, etc.) - PDA (Windows Mobile)
- CD/DVD
- Further USB devices
- Floppy devices
- WLAN, Bluetooth
- FireWire (e.g. iPod)
- Modems and UMTS devices
- LPT Port, COM Port
- Blackberry
- Smartphone
Control the interfaces
Security.Desk recognizes automatically if a removable device gets connected via USB, an iPod gets connected via FireWire or a CD or SD memory card gets inserted. You define what to do: block the data transfer completely, allow the user to only read the data or record all data transfers from and to the external device. Additionally you can enable encrypted writing on the external medium.Clear overview and detailed reporting
You will get detailed information about the usage of external storage devices and ports of all users and computers in your network at any time. Consequently you increase the security of your companies´ vital data and your system stability. If you record the access attempts to hardware interfaces, you are in a position to reconstruct who did what at which time via detailed reports. The system is also capable to send you emails about all actions on hardware interfaces performed by the users.Rights on levels of: computer, user, group or organizational unit
Usage rights can be set on device level, group or organizational unit (of the Active Directory) level or on the user account level. Even if the computer is offline, the defined user rights will be applied.White lists – selective approval of storage devices
After adding a removable storage to the white list, this device can be used even if the general rights are not granted to the user. You can add removable storages to the list based on the particular serial numbers or based on a specific type of device. A white list can be deployed on particular organizational units, groups, users or globally.Black lists – Lock out special types of files and software applications
Black lists for file types (e.g. .exe) define those file types which must not be used through external interfaces, even if they are embedded e.g. in Office files. The system makes this sure by not simply checking the file extension but investigating the characteristic signature of the file type itself when the file is copied. Consequently those files get blocked even if the user renames the extension.Furthermore, by applying the black list for software applications you can prevent the users from starting unwanted software on the clients (e.g. burning software, games).
Temporary approval
Security.Desk can grant temporary access to interfaces to mobile users via code, even if the notebook is not connected to the network.Data encryption
Furthermore, Security.Desk provides you with an option to encrypt data via the AES algorithm. You are in a comfortable position to encrypt your files by running FCS CryptMe! out of the context menu of your Windows. No manipulation
The security service cannot be stopped or removed or manipulated even if you have administrator rights on the machine.Do you have further questions on Security.Desk? Do you like to run the demo version or would you prefer to get an individual offer?
